About us

The Federal Association of Foreign Students (BAS) is the representation of the interests of foreign and stateless students as well as students with immigrant backgrounds in the Federal Republic of Germany. It is the nationwide network of the foreign student representatives at the German universities.

Representation
The BAS is committed to the interests and rights of foreign and stateless students as well as students with a migrant background in Germany. The aim of the BAS is to improve the legal, economic, societal, social and cultural situation of foreign students and to combat their structural disadvantage, especially in foreigners’, labour, higher education and social law. Another goal is the integration of foreign students into the living space of the university and society.

The BAS carries the affairs of foreign students into the political space inside and outside the university and is the political representation of foreign and stateless students as well as students with a migrant background.

Networking
The BAS links the work of local foreigners and internationals, representatives of foreign students as well as other persons and groups working in this regard and is a forum for an open exchange.

Support
Support for the representation of foreign students in the AStAs, StuRas, UStAs and the other bodies of student and university self-government plays an important role here. Another goal of the BAS is the further education and training of representatives of foreign students through seminars and training courses.
